V.I.C. Showcases New Product at Automotive Testing Expo N.A. 2011

 Test Expo Photo VIC
October 25-27 -- V.I.C. Exhibits at Automotive Testing Expo. held at The Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi, Detroit, MI.  Pictured here are John Guy, Managing Patner of V.I.C.'s Mid-West rep firm, Stress Anlaysis Services, and Chuck Wilkinson, Corporate Marketing Director for V.I.C.
Products on display were the new backfill and evacuation station -- SmartChargeIII and helium leak test sniffer the MD-490S.  The Smart ChargeIII is a fully automatic, custom-configurable evacuation and gas backfill system with built-in gross-leak test used to pre-charge products under test with gas for leak detection or for any gas charging application that requires evacuation and subsequent pressurization of the test product.  The SmartChargeIII can be readily integrated with V.I.C.’s MD-490S portable dry industrial helium leak detector for tracer gas charging of products prior to fine leak testing.  Gas recovery and mixing options are also offered by V.I.C. to create a completely integrated gas handling and test system. Reducing Helium Usage and Associated Costs
 fuel_rails 2
Millennium Industries is a fuel rail manifold manufacturer with the capacity to manufacture over 12,000 fuel rails per day.  A fuel rail is essentially a pipe (usually resembling a rail) used to deliver fuel to individual fuel injectors on internal combustion engines.  Formerly, the company manufactured their fuel rails to withstand 75 psi.  However, due to the stringent CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards for fuel economy and efficiency, and new direct injection fuel delivery methods the company was faced with having to manufacture new products to withstand pressures from 2,200 – to 2,600 psi. Greater test pressures meant greater helium usage.

In order to avert the additional helium costs associated with the higher test pressures, Millennium installed a V.I.C. helium recovery system that would reclaim up tp 98% of the helium used.  Even with the cost of the recovery system and the installation to retrofit three machines, the cost of the new system was recouped in a little over a six-month period.  Full Story
